Engine problem??

I thought my engine was toast but today i did a compression check and i got 195 - 205 psi on all cylinders seeing the book says "standard compression... 191psi" i figure my engine is fine, lol but it still burns oil! I did a little exploratory surgery and found this....

Im slightly confused as to why this is happening?

after looking around i also found this...

does anyone know what this passage does because i have no idea...all i know is that it takes air from the throttle body to the valve cover??

Thanks for any help you guys and gals can provide

the oil may be from your valve seals, and that air passage is just a vent for crankcase fumes, its bad for the environment to vent fumes into the atmosphere so they decided to redirect them into the engine where i guess they are somehow made safer by burning, maybe its time to replace your pcv? and if you are getting blue smoke after the engine has been sitting for a while then you know your valve seals are leaking.
