Just got a 2000 Toyota Celica GT, Looking for Engine Swap

I am looking at taking an engine and building it for replacement of my stock engine in my 2000 Celica GT. I am not the most fluent with Toyota parts or Toyota engines as I just recently switched to Toyota from DSM. I lovethe car and the styling but need more GO!.
Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Requirments:
Engine must fit with limited modifications to electrical
Engine must support a Turbo

Other then the above requirments im open to suggestions from anyone. This is goignt o be a project that will no doubt take me some time to accomplish but am willing to put forth the effort and the money to get it done.

Hmmm.....
Thers a couple of boosted 1zz's out there inspiders and celicas, and they are taking 12 psi on stock internals over 20000 miles fine so far, the 2zz would not be a boosting option due to the high compression etc....
The 3s-gte would be a bitch and a half to fit and will require some major suspension mods, and your car will understeer like a fat german woman in a corrado, your best bet is bossting the motor.
WC Toyota is coming out with a turbo kit very shortly, if you have any questions about the motor or need blueprints or diagrams PM me.

A 2ZZ swap would be very simple, as it uses the same block as the 1ZZ. You would need the 2ZZ ECM though.

Oh, BTW... 2ZZ's can be boosted and quite effectivly at that. Ever heard of SportCompact cars Turbo Matrix XRS? How about XS-Engineering's Turbo 2000 Celica GT-S?

All thats required for the 2ZZ and boost to get along is proper engine managment. You definatly need a programable aftermarket ECM, like Tech-Tom or AEM offers.

What about fuel? The 1zz/2zz don't use return fuel lines. Have you ever seen the connecting rods on a 2zz? I don't know if they'll hold more than 7psi reliably for a very long time. Compression?

Yea, no return line, so you cant just use a rising rate regulator. Fuel pump has to be upgraded to supply appropriate pressure for max boost. Along with injectors, that pretty much takes care of fuel, aside from some ECM programming and a proper tune.

A good testement to the 2ZZ's reliablility under boost is Sport Compact cars Matrix. They ran 2000+ Miles in that car at 8psi in summer heat and it never gave up a beat.

Ouch, XS is the only company that I've seen doing a competent (don't flame, I haven't seen other peeps boosted GTS's) turbo setup. But it's pretty pricey! The main problem is what the other's have addressed. The GTS has a single return fuel line and needs a dual return. So they had to swap fuel lines with a Mazda fuel line. I can't remember the entire article, but a whole lot of stuff had to be addressed as usual when you're going to setup a turbo from an NA car.

I believe they priced it from $2,500-$6,000. Like I said before, I don't remember it all. I've checked their site and it's sorta' down. Here's the link anyways.
www.xs-engineering.com
Hope that helps.
