3sGte swap

I've been trying to get a responce from someone...ok, I've heard of people swapping the 7mgte motor into pickups and runners and anything that has wheels. Well I think that's great but I have more interest in the 3sgte, because it's smaller, and you can get a reliable 300-400 hp out of it with the stock turbo...I've been told that they use the same block as the 22re, but i dont believe that. I do believe that it is definately possible to swap one, im justwondering if anyone has pulled it off. I'd love to throw one in a 3rd gen 2wd pickup and turn it into a drifter.

T'would be proposterious to assume you can get 400hp OUT OF A STOCK 3S-GTE...

But to answer your question; yes. With enough money, anything is possible. There would be much custom work, whereas it will probably not bolt right up.

I've heard that it bolts to the V6 camry transmission with 4 bolts, you might see if that engine was used in any lexus rwd as a transmission source. There is also a bellhousing available to bolt it to an ae86 transmission.
Drifting would seem to use lowend torque rather than high end horsepower. You may look into a taco V6 or even a tundra V8 swap.

I had a v6 pick up...It had some power, but i want a lot of power, Even if i wouldnt be able to drift with it I'd still want it to beat up on vettes. My goal is to find a cheap high mileage 80-85 so i can run historic tags. I wouldn't plan on running a big turbo because I'd want it to spool up reasonably quick. Thanks for the tranny input I'll have to look into that. I would want to swap a v8 or the supra I6 just because of the conflict with fitting it. Anyways, thanx.

Actually the V8 should be the same length as the I4 and the same width at the bottom. Fitting should be very easy. After that you could always turbo the V engines too. The I4 that came in your truck had a cast iron block so it should weigh almost the same thing as an aluminum V8.

Something else I thought about, to my knowledge a 3SGTE was never placed front to rear in any engine compartment. I know ppl have put them in ae-86's and such, but setting up mounts will be as difficult for that as they would for any other.

Found something you may want to see. An engine stronger than a 3sgte, still an I4, and with a rwd transmission.

no way at 300/400 hp out of stock turbo and all.

The swaps would be cool, especially that beams motor. Where about in MD are you, I wouldn't mind helping you out if you ever needed it and letting u take me for a ride when it's done
