92 Toyota brake headaches

Hey...new here...not sure if I am posting in the right place or not. If not, please direct me to the correct forum! Here is the deal...92 Toyota 4X4 Ext cab. Did new brakes and rebuilt calipers last weekend. Everything was looking good, then lost brakes on Sunday (during snowstorm, none the less) Found a small line leaking between T fitting mounted to the frame and the rubber line leading to the caliper. Had mega trouble getting the old line off....fitting was rusted badly to the T fitting on the frame. Finally a friend rescued me with a pair of high quality german channel locks. OK...now the old one is off, so I pick up a piece of brake tubing with Japanese ends, bend it to shape, and try to install it on the truck. The end fitting into the rubber hose end screws right in, but the end going to the T fitting on the frame wont work. The fitting screws in part way, but tightens and will not secure the end of the brake line. I gave up and ordered the Toyota brake line, which should be here tomorrow. Can somebody explain the different fittings? I would think a Japanese fitting would fit a T on a Toyota, but it absolutely does not. Is this a ploy to get repair shops to use the OEM parts, or what is the deal??

Thanks.......
