So, I've been driving alot latey and have really been needing more power. I know, I should be happy with what i got, but if everyone said that, we would have body kit cars and blink neon lights everywhere.
So...I called engine land today in MTL to see what I can do. I wanted the almight 3S-GTE in my 97 Rolla, but didn't know what was involved. The prices are for a 94 J-spec 3S-GTE runs for $2200. Which is pretty decent, but the swap into my car which they haven't done every will run me another $2500 ish.. give or take.
So I thought to maybe sell my complete kit on ebay and take the rest and do that swap. Should put the car into mid 13's stock, and with a bit of modding to the 3S, low 13's high 12's....dear god, out of a corolla.
So, let me know what you guys think, it would be sweet, but is the need for speed that great?
Dude the 3SGTE is like the holy grail of Corolla swaps. I dunno man, but I think there would be a lot of custom work involved. It's been done, but probably not more times than fingers on your hand. I would have no idea how to make it work. It's not like how you can buy a mount kit for a B16-H22 conversion. Believe me, you would probably pay a lot more than $2500CDN for labour. I paid $1900 for my drop in 4AGZE. And computer? You could probably find a stock ECU but how bout a harness?
I would love to see it happen man, but give it some hard thought first and buy a second car because you never know how long your Rolla will be down for.
Call me later!

Engine land only deals with j-spec stuff, no american junk here. And yes Eric, would cost an arm and a leg to do this, but how hardcore would that be!! The price at $2200 includes engine tranny, ECU, everything in the rear section, but still, labour to squeeze this bad boy in would be killer. Still, I have to think about it for awhile.
Bro, if you do it, you'll be among the top 'Rolla guys, its worthwhile if your goals are 12's. $2500 is a pretty good deal if it includes all the custom work and wiring. $2200 for the motor is pretty good too if its a 2nd gen motor.
btw, if its sourced from a GT4, the tranny is useless to you.
I've seriously considered a 3S-GTE swap in my car, but theres several problems with making it fit in a corolla. #1 is that is has to really be canted for it to fit underhood. 2nd the driveshafts are too long, so your wheels would stick out of the car plus you wont get it to fit with the suspension UNLESS you get custom driveshafts made. Correct me if I'm wrong on the latter part. I got some other ideas rolling around in my head now... Heck I wouldnt mind a rotary corolla either heh
That sounds awsome 4AFTE, but I would recommend thinking about it twoce before you do it.
If you really want to do it, I wouldn't mind picking up the kit off you. I know it might not fit on my rolla but It would save me alot considering the manifolt and turbo, e-mail me and tell how much you'd sell it for if you ever did?

I would probably sell the entire kit for 2000-25000 USD cause I know peeps down there would pay for it, so if I can't get that number, than I can't do the swap.
That makes sense.. Well, good luck with your swap and I hope it goes well.. You know you're driving down here straight from the garage right.. We have to see it..
