I would recommend JL although Eclipse isn't a bad brand name, but I think they're better in decks and speakers than they are in subs...

If moneys not an issue I'd say f_ck the W6's and get yourself some Kicker L7's they (and I know because I've instlled them) BANG! But you need a good amount of power to run the kickers. Now if money is an issue I'd say go with W3's or Diamond Audio which are comparable to Eclipse.

If those are your choices go with the W6. I run JL subs in my Olds Intrigue and I have an eclipse 10" in my Corolla. I have had nothing but problems with the eclipse and will most likely be exchanging it for some nice JL subs!!

kickers aint bad, but for the best SOUND quality around,go Rockford HK2 subs. They are $$$ and arnt the loudest subs around, but you wont find a better SOUNDING sub in the world... unless you go Focal, but those are even more $$$

If you have the cash, put it down on a Soundstream amp... absolutly insane power and quality

If you want some real subs to play against the big boys get a set of Kove audio 'M' or 'Z' series. These will blow away any of the subs mentioned here.

Well...

It really depends on your vehicle, what you mean by "better" sounding, how much $$ you have to spend and how much room you have in your car. Knowing nothing about your setup, I'd probably recommend the Kicker solo-baric L7 also... if you want more punch, but not as clear a sound, I'd consider the JL W7 that just came out. It's ridiculously loud.

is hard to say whats better to have. What are you really looking for SPL or SQ. I own some JL before and love them. they had alot of thump but not much of SQ subs. I now own a 88150DVC in a small sealed enclousure and it kick ass. why not lookin into a W7? if your willing to spend some money on some eclipse look into it. i heard a 8" kicker hit over 150 db before. what im really tring to say is every sub all better than the other in its own way.
