Angry did I Cook my Clutch?? Its slipping in 1st!!

Hi folks, you all have helped me tremendously before, for which i am most thankful. Now I have a dire need to know if I have permanantly Burnt my nice aftermarket ZOOM II clutch(249.00+279.00 installation).I have always relied on the sound of my moter for shift indication, the 89 truck not having any factory tach.WELLLLL,i just put in a brand new 1000.00 Sony/Linear Power stereo in the truck, and i was Blasting some heavy metal and doing some harmles city stret racing, when I didnt hear the usual cue for the upshift and i severly overloaded the clutch-i mean ,i was doing about 45 in first,i think, for awhile.Well, i didnt smell any burnt clutch, only some engine exhaust odor.People?-Did i irepparably fry my beloved Hi-perf clutch??Everything is the same except it SLIPS IN 1ST from a standstill launch now. Please dont say i need a new clutch!!(lets see,a new clutch, another 750.00+!!!).I am hanging on to the ghost of a hope i saw on aMzda MX-6 post where the guy botched a launch and missed a gear, and the people were saying 6the plate was glazed and that he only needed to drive the vehicle normally for a few hundred miles to remove the GLAZING on the face??? Thats the best case scenario, which normally never happens to me-Okay,give it tpo me staright,do i start planning for a new hi-perf clutch(750.00).One things for sure-i wil never street raceagain without a TACH!!!!!!

First, what the hell are you doing racing with the stereo on?? If you are being hard on your car, you better acutly aware of what its doing...

Did you break the new clutch in correctly?

If you can still drive the car ok, just drive it. ... And start saving for a new clutch.

Over revving a car doesnt do that to cluches, riding/slipping them kills them. That or you have an oil leak in there and fouled the plate. Could it be you didn't replace the pressure plate when you put your new clutch in?

Get it looked at it.
