3" is too big for a NA V6, anything from 3" or more is for force induction applications.

But would the high-flow cat be a good investment??

No, unless you really have to get a new cat then go for it.

You won't be getting much hp by switching from stock cat to a high-flow one.

Do you have emissions testing where you live? My friend has had his car straight piped for 2 years with no problem. Emissions tests are not required where I live.

But still, it smells pretty bad. Eventually the smell gets into all your clothings and the interior of the car.

Were you live...Im in ATL? If your close we should meet, or get some people together in out area. PLus we both have 3vz-fe's! What you got on yours?

SORRY NOT ON TOPIC

PS: Just incase heres on topic....I want a high flow cat. also and found a good one for 125 online but intend on waiting untile I get forced induction like elegant said its not worth it...it can add minor gains, and sound I heard but serves more purpose with forced induction. PLus if you plan on getting FI then why would you want to have to change the pipe size so and stuff again, Im gonna buy all new exhaust stuff once im sure of the FI, and change the pipe size then.

I have a Dynomax high flow cat. It didn't help that much. The Dynomax isn't carb legal either.

i got a new carsound hi flow cat. not sure if the old one was clogged, but now the car leaps forward when shifting, and better torque. The sound was a little deeper, sounded better. I replaced it because i'm gonna get smog check and want to pass, two nice features.

the main disadvantage of a "high flow" cat is the reduced life of the catalytic converter, due to the reduction of the amount of the catalysts.
