transmission question...
i've been noticing that after i let the clutch back in after i shift, the rpm's just seem to sit there for about a second before they rise again if i'm on the gas. it's like the clutch is slipping but i know that's not the problem. when the clutch went bad, the rpms would rise and the car wouldn't accelerate, but they're not rising, just staying at whatever rpm it's at when i reengage the clutch.
i just had the clutch replaced about 16k miles ago, so i'm almost certain that's not the problem. granted, i drive the car kinda hard at times, but i know i haven't worn it out that quickly.
i'm wondering what could be the problem here. i'm guessing something like the throw out bearing or pressure plate is bad and the clutch isn't fully engaging all the way when i let the pedal out. i don't know a ton about the workings of a manual tranny, so it might be something else i don't know about.
whatever it is, is it wearing out my clutch too? it seems like the plates might be spinning against each other for that second where nothing's happening. the pedal is all the way out, but the car isn't accelerating, so something has to be slipping in the driveline.
thanks for any help!
