New Fish with an engine swap question

Hey folks... I just picked up an 85 Corolla DX, and I'm wondering about swapping teh 4agze engine into it. Everything I've read states that it would be fairly simple (bolts right in, bolts to tranny, etc) but I'm trying to get more feedback.

So what do you think? Is this a good idea, and how hard, IYO, would it be?

If the car were a GTS, I wouldn't be swapping it in the first place... heheheh

But I'm hoping that it can be done, and fairly easily.

I know some wiring would need to be re-done, I know I would need the 4agze ECU, but I'm not sure what else I may need to do.

If it weren't for the fact that I got the 85 DX for free, I wouldn't even be considering it.

if you have the tools, mechanically inclined and time to try
just try it, or research it out if you don't want to screw up

there's alot of other small things for that swap to work which requires more industrial type of tools/knowledge.

the intake plenum has to be cut, welded shut and have the throttle boddy reweld on the opposite side of the intake plenum in order for a gze swap. remember, the mr2's are backwards.

as the block bolts up, not everything else fits like a glove. you will have to do some reworking of water lines, re-positioning of the fuel filter, etc in order to accomodate the super charger. also, like most have stated, the wiring will be the biggest headache. although, you really only encounter a handfulll of other sensors/wires that are not on the bluehat.

hope this helps...good luck.

and

Yea, the throttle body is a big job. You also have to worry about your fuel system. You'll have to convert it to EFI, and that involves either modifying the tank or getting a new tank from an EFI car.

Carl helped a friend put a GZE into an older carbed corolla. He has a fairly detailed page on the swap.
