3rd Generation 3sge Wiring -

Hi. i just purchased a gen3 3sge WITHOUT a wiring harness... i plan to use stand-alone in the future, but with the prices i've been quoted for 3s harness/ecu - i might as well spend a couple extra $$ and buy a stand-alone to start with...
my question is whether another generation of 3S-GE or GTE harness will work with minor mods, or can anyone suggest a decent stand-alone that comes with wiring-loom? also, what kind of extras am i gonna have to purchase? (TPS, MAP, O2 sensor...)

also, if you know where to get the harness and/or wiring diagrams for gen3 3SGE SW20 - PLEASE HELP!

P.S. I have another gen3 3SGE with auto tranny avail. - taking offers

Just buy a hacked 3s loom from any Gen (GE or GTE) to steal the 99% of the plugs you will need and then buy yourself a decent aftermarket ECU (Motec, Autronic etc.) and NA loom to suit.
The aftermarket looms will come prewired from the ECU plugs and will have about 2m of wiring to play with... match the aftermarket loom up to your hacked 3s loom and solder them together.
Note: Use glue impregnated heatshrink when mating two looms together as electrical tape and standard heatshrink doesn't seal well enough.

really.. so any gen. harness would fit most of the plugs?? could i just buy a gen1 or gen2 USDM 3S-GE harness, and plug it direct into a gen3 ecu?

Haltech? Apex-i? anyone got an opinion on these??? also in need of wire diagrams!!

It will fit most of the plugs on the engine side... not the ECU side.
If you are planning on fitting a real engine management system then you won't be using then the ECU plugs will be different anyway. (except Apexi)

You need to consider where you want to go with the engine in the future... find a tuning shop that you can trust and see what sort of ECU's they recommend for your application.

your in Kansas, he's in Australia, so i dont think he could help you with much. have you tried looking in any publications in your area to see if any shops advertise? i'm pretty sure there must be a few good ones in Kansas City.

Cheers
