Australia can intercooler on non-turbo improve fuel consumption?

my question is: can intercooler help us get better fuel consumption?
I have never seen a normal everyday car installed with intercooler
is it because it's pointless?
is intercooler only installabe on turbo charged engine or something?
doesn't cooler air mean more air molecule?
can someone answer me those dumb questions?

An intercooler is used in boosted situations as the air is pushed through the core from the boosting mechanism (s/c or t/c) to the intake. in normal cars the induction is thru a vacuum basis. hence putting an intercooler on an na engine will do squat all.

thus most N/A people will instead route their intake so that it draws air from a cold source, eg behind the front bumper. in effect this is drawing the cold air from out side the engine bay.

but to put answers to ur questions

yes
yes
yes
yes
just did

now my suggestion. head over to How Stuff Works and read up. you have a lot to learn. you could also try searching on here as there will be plenty of information on TN.

To put it simply, an intercooler tries to get the hot air coming from a turbocharger down to ambient temp. But when you're starting with air that's already ambient, you can't get it any colder by trying to cool it with air that's the same temp! So all you're doing is adding restriction to the intake.

That not really correct either... unless you're thinking in the exhaust maybe...
