Stock air intake question?

Would having only the stock air intake system with out the rest of the stuff that goes before the air filter housing like the silencer and the tube that is hidden under the side pannel give any more power like a regular cold air intake system? the reason that i ask that question is because my car is currently running like this, with only the air filter housing, the filter , and the hose that connects to the trottle body. when i flored it today you could hear that R ish sound that comes out of the air intake system, the car also pulled kind of hard, so thought that it does that because of the missing componets of intake system. could it be that the intake system is acting like an cold air system? this was the first time i flored it on this car so im wondering if im getting some extra high end tourqe because of this

it's not a cold air because you'r filter's still in the engine bay. so now you'r just sucking up hot air. it's probbly louder now because all of those things you took off was designed to deaden the sound.

hmm, that silencer bit on the side of the air pipe probably slows the air down a tiny bit, so you would probably get a bit more air if that was removed. Although a friend just did this on a Nissan and i couldnt really see (or hear) any difference.

no. not worth the hassle, remember that the stock pipe work is semi cold air at low pressure (draws from behind headlights) and at high pressure it also draws cold air from the wheelwell (tehre is a valve in the standard chunky box/parts in the well)

2 options:

make a short ram and loose some bottom end but gain top end
OR
make a true cold air intake, yuou do not need to have hte filter at the fron tof the car if you can house the filter in the engine bay.

I just peeked in there today and notice that the tube that goes down there is till there, the only thing that is missing is that spacer/connecter that joins them togeter. i might get that part from another junked car or should i just leave it like that?
