I'm curious about all the laws concerning engine swaps. I've heard that you can't swap an engine into your car if it's older that your car (that's a federal law). Is that true? Is there a place online where it lists all the engine swap laws for each state or anything like that?
I'm mostly interested in the northeast US... NY, MA, CT, etc.
I can tell you about CA. It must be the same year engine or newer as the vehicle you put it into. It must be the same vehicle class or cleaner. No truck engines into a car, but a car engine can go into a truck. And here in CA, no federal engines into a CA vehicle.

in MA i believe it just has to meet the emissions requirements of the chassis it's in. I have a s4 13b in my s5 rx7. I know the emissions requirements didn't change from 88 to 90 so I'm pretty sure my car will pass fine. There's no way to differentiate between the engines in my car though because I used all the newer manifolds. But yea, Just the emissions requirements i believe.

Speaking of engine swaps, anyone have a 3sgte in their corolla?
I'm curious cause I have a 96 and the motor has quite a few miles
It's been done in the Phillipines by a few people, and there's a guy in Canada who has a 3SGE. After swapping a 3SGTE into a Celica ST (which has the 7AFE engine) I'm sure it's completely doable. If you're serious let me know, I'd be interested in doing it and I'm not a bad drive from CT.
im also very interested in participating in this, after doing a couple engine swaps now and working on turbo stuff, im pretty good all around with the mechanical and electrical components.
Tweak, where did you get your MSnDIS from? right from the B&G company or from someone else? and did you get all the parts for it at once or what? how about the ford parts? hit me back in a PM. i would have PMed you, but this is easier...

This goes for anyone else that would like to discuss or possibly take part in this project.

I can't use AIM at work, that's when I'm online, but I'm very fast with email.
