Right now I`m looking at going full management for the rolla, researching on the Link Management from Australia, and looking at the Haltech E6K. Both are simple yet effective fuel, timing, and ignition management for aftermarket NA, and boosted applications.
Does anyone know any useful info about them, or have had experience in tuning with these systems?
I would go with a Accel DFI or Electromotive TEC-II or TEC-III.
$1200 is just for the computer alone. It gets expensive when you start adding on other stuff.
One of my friends bought a Accel DFI (Gen 7) not to long ago and the computer itself was about $1400. With all the other accessories (crank trigger, wideband O2, knock sensor, and distributor) it was about $3200 total.
There are hundreds of uneducated opinions one preferring some over another.
I guess it's all up to individual research to find most suitable unit for their needs.
However there are definate differences between different brands of programmable ecu's. Problems I have heard of consist of some rather complex technical setups, i.e. ecu isn't able to control v-tec cam timing as desired or some other equally difficult problem.
It's comforting to have some kinda tech backup or forum where share knowledge/problems. Here's a forum for people with Haltech ecu.
I used to roadrace with the owner of this company, he won every year lol!
He now builds efi units and is a toyota nut .. sdsefi.com
No BS what he says he gives you get. There are also some amazing tuning and tech tips if you keep looking around on that site.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on tech page faq to see the guy knows what he is doing.

I did and engine swap and got the haltec E6K from Aus. I picked this because it was just right on the budget. I installed a 3sgte on a 6th gen celica and runs perfect. I told them what i wanted and they helped me out. Even got some wiring diagrams thats not included in the kit to help me further...
From my experience It was easy to get the E6k started. I did make alot of calls for different engine management but they just cost too much and usually try to sell their product.
Since i deal with them I can also asl for a map so that you can get your car running right away instead of making a guess on the settings. They do have a pretty good tech support when it comes to these products.
pm me if you want more info on this.
Ratko i might be able to help you too.. give me more info on you setup
you can ask martingouda coz he has seen the work that i have done on my buddy's 95 Celica. Deep also know what i have done.
Good Luck

Ryan, Ratko was there when your buddy rolled up with the 6th gen, that car is siiiiiick. And we're all aware of your tuning prowess [ insert bowdown smily here ].
Sorta off topic, but Haltec offers a plug and play version of their E6K that replaces GM ECUs with a fully programmable unit. Its amazing, not a single wire to run or sensor to add, plug it in, tune it with a laptop, and you're done. Fricken awesome.
