I'm thinking of painting brake parts like the caliper and visible, inactive portions of the brake pad. Why? So they'll look cool behind new wheels I'm getting!

Besides, the rusted look doesn't appeal to me.
Problem is I'm afraid the paint could act as an insulator and adversely affect the heat dissipation properties of the parts, i.e., my brakes would overheat more quickly and easily. Metal, after all, is a better heat conductor than probably any paint on the market.
Any expert opinions on this matter?
What are the viable options? Should I seek some form of metal plating process? I could conceivably purchase a prepared, jazzed up caliper, but I'd like to pursue an economical option using my existing caliper.
