radiator shrouds

these were going around in club4ag actually, seems pretty neat, but my question is, do they actually WORK? i'm not looking for a large amount of improvement, but just wanna know if it'll really help direct some air to the radiator......

the piece between the front grille and the radiator

they do a litte bit. i have an aluminum one on mine and i'd say it decreased temps by maybe 3 degrees.

however, in conjunction with a dual electric fan, my temps dropped a whopping 10 - 12 degrees.

the radiator shroud is also good if you plan on getting a cf or frp hood. the shroud will prevent air from entering beneath the car and lifting your hood.

A few of us fabricated some this spring and I'll be selling mine because it won't fit over top the front mount intercooler I'm going to use. These are made from sheet aluminum and are rigid, all you need to do is drill a hole for the attachment bolt. I also have a few more unfinished ones that could be made available if anyone else wants one. Email me derek@eol.ca if you are interested.

these CF ones are going around in club4ag for 90 bucks!

i was thinking about making my own, anything to prevent overheating! (never knew it helped keep the hod down too, cool)

Nick,

What style of fans did you use. I was gonna use fans off an old cavalier but wasnt sure if they would go. Let me know eh. Dorifto, what do you want for one of those shrouds?

i think they are made out of CF

but anyway 90 dollars is way too much for me  i'm just going to raid the tech/art rooms in my school, see if theres any interesting material

if you guys can just trace the outline of your shrouds on a piece of paper or cardboard it would be greatly appreciated

25$ Canadian is fine with me, you just need to finish it off by drilling a hole.

the aluminum ones are good enough. cf for $90? you're paying roughly $65 more to have the 'look'.

trust me, the aluminum ones weigh nothing.

brent: 91 sentra as my brother stated. dimensionally it fits perfect. its even better if you can find the ones with the plastic shroud. i can send you pictures via email to show you how i made brackets. i thought you gave up on your ae86?
