On corollas its practically just a minor job to change from drums to disks, but there might be other problems that can arise, like your handbrake might not hold the car anymore, and they might not function as well if they dont warm up enough.

yup as flashman said...possible and not very complicated at all.
the handbrake could be a potential problem(i'm not sure about toyota), but on hondas they are not.

Well, drums keep optimal braking temperature longer, and since they arent used as powerfully as the fronts on a light car, they tend to cool down and in somecases it takes a while for them to bite when you press the brakes. Additionally drums have a sort of "booster" in htem, when they are applied the drum rotates and they bite even more. Also on disks there have been some problems with the handbrake not keeping the car still. So in a cressida, crown, and I think rav 4 (might of gotten those wrong) thers a small drum brake in the center of the hub to work as the handbrake.

Forgot to say about the front disks ;P Well they put disks in front because they're used more than the brakes in the rear, so they tend to heat up. Disks cool better than drums (doh) and they're easier to service.

Plus there simply is not very much stopping power at the rear wheels to be had. The stopping potential is like 70% front and 30% rear. You just plain don't need rear discs in a smaller, slower car because you can get the best braking with a cheaper disc/drum set up.
