I, most likely, can help. I work at a dealership and I'll try to remember to look on TIS to email you the specs. Please post the specific year, make and model your engine came from.

Im running a 5VZ-FE engine from a 1996 4 runner with all 98 electronics. The cams are most likely the same 96-98+ so the specs from any of those years should work.

If you can get that info, Ill list you on my website as a contributor LOL.

Thanks again,

Jim

This is the best I can come up with. It is from the 1997 Tacoma FSM. It gives lobe height.
If this dosen't help drop URD a line. They have a lot of R&D in the 3.4.

Thanks for trying. Im really looking for duration so I can mess with the overlap. I could technically do it by trial and error on the dyno but the valve covers have to be pulled to change the cams relation to one another. Very costly and time consuming. Several people have recomended I contact URD. Ill shoot them an email.

Thanks again for your help.

Jim

That could be tough. Its not like the inline twin cam motors where you can use an adjustable pully. With the exaust being driven by the intake cam you could only adjsust by removing the cam and moving it a tooth. It seems like that would be a pretty radical change. Usualy you only adjust by a degree or two max. It seems like you would get that if not a little more per tooth. I suppose you could get a custom grind too. If you play with the tooth thing on the dyno let me know. I would like to see the result.

1 tooth = ~3* on the cam BUT if I put an adustable cam gear on then I can advance or back off on that. Basically the cam timin Intake VS Exhaust will be off by three degrees but in relation to crank timing they would only be off by ~1.5 degrees. So, for example the intake would be retarded by 1.5* and the exhaust will be advanced by 1.5* With my raised redline and larger single turbo setup this could yeild HUGE results for verly little money.

Did anyone verify this? Basically I want to know, do the cams have 120 teeth in the mesh? (360/120=3* per tooth). I also will be looking at increasing my LSA and have yet to pull the valve cover on my engine.

Not sure about the 5VZ-FE, but here's the 3VZ-FE's specs:

3VZ-FE
230 intake
230 exhaust
12 deg overlap
7.85mm intake lift (or .31")
7.6mm exhaust lift (or .30")
34mm intake valve

The 5VZ is likely more conservative than that.

5vz has cams tuned for more torque down low compared to the 3vz (which gives less peak torque, but has a nice flattish curve through out most of the range)
