How to Remove Black Spots/Tar?

My truck has really little black dots, grease or some kind of tar. Hard to remove it.

I dunno where its coming from. Its all under my fender etc... Side of my truck, on the bottom.

I have to use my fingernail to remove it, but there is so many!!

Any liquid or some kind of thing, to remove it easy?

If you dont know what i'm talking about. I can take a picture.

Maybe its all the grease, from all the state workers filling the pot holes....

Sounds like a perfect job for the clay bar. Check the detailing tutorial.

Try Stoner's tar and bug remover,it's in an aresol can and its safe on paint and clearcoats. I had stubborn tree sap on my truck, and with one single spray and wipe it was gone! If its tar I will guarantee Stoner will remove it. Now please tell me my checks in the mail!

Took mine right off. Clay is my goto from now on! My wifes car got hammered by some a-hole and which caused some paint transfer. Silver car with a quarter sized red dent. Took the bar to it and with a lil rubbibg here and there... came out on the clay bar. Sold my wife on that one! Try it next time. Comes right off!

In all Honesty, if you have alot of it, I would use some kerosene on a rag... Large amounts of tar will really jack up your clay bar.

Back in the day that is what they used to strip wax off automobiles...

Just do not get any Kerosene on your driveway.... it eats Asphalt and will NOT harm your Paint.

Well you can also use Goo Gone, engine degreaser, etc... but I mentioned Kerosene because the tar will come right off and you claim you have a large amount of it...

best wishes

You can use WD40 on all kinds of stuff. My wife actually downloaded some information off the Internet about WD40. She uses it on clothes to remove grease spots. I've been using it to remove grease/tar/bug splotches on my truck now -- gets most stuff out.

If you use WD-40 you'll have to use something to clean off the oil that's left behind from it. I would use a 50/50 water/alcohol mix.

If you had a wax job, you will need to re-wax those areas.

Thanks pb2themax for the info.

I just use a damp towel, to wipe off it off. Whatever is left...

Than i use a spray-on-wax to finish it off....Pretty soon i have to wax my truck.
