OK...I'm going to do a major detailing on my wife's '93 Corolla. Other than car washes I don't think she's done much to it in a long time. The paint looks in decent shape, just dull (oxidation?). No swirl marks and no obvious scratches, although as I discover any I will not hesitate to use the SFX1 first on spots that need it.
Here's what I have, all brand new, and I've never used the PC yet and this is my first detailing job, although I am well read up on it and have watched all the demo videos:
PC 7336
Sonus SFX Pad Kit
Sonus SFX 1, 2 and 3 polishes
Klasse AIO (someone tell me how to correctly pronounce Klasse please)
P21S Carnuba wax
I have a few questions:
1. By the looks of the paint, can you pros (PBtotheMax) tell me if I need to do all three SFX polishes or can i do just SFX 2 and SFX 3?
2. Since I intend to go all out for her and apply Klasse AIO and the P21S after the polishing, I was wondering what I do since I have one set of SFX pads. I will obviously have to use the SFX-3 pad for three products: The SFX3 polish, the Klasse AIO and the P21s. Can I wash the pad between uses or will it need some drying time?
3. The pin striping is decal striping, not paint, and it looks weathered anda little crumbled along the edges in places. Can I safely use the PC aover it if I am careful with the pressure, and will the polish rip the striping up?
Start out with SFX2, and check the results. If that doesn't work then step up to SFX 1. I think SFX2 should work though. You should be able to go from SFX2 straight to the Klasse.
Do a small area and work it til the polish almost disappears. start out at like speed 3 and then after a minute step it to speed 4 and then finish it with speed 5. Then buff with a towel to see the results. You can moisten the surface with detailing spray if the polish is sticking.
The striping should be OK. Test a small spot, on low speed.
Wow...SFX2 straight to the Klasse? I didn't realize that would be fine enough...Is that becasue Klasse has a fine polish in it?
That will shorten my day considerably. I probably won't be able to do this until next weekend since tomorrow is rain and Sunday I have houseguests.
What about the pads...? Use the SFX3 pad for the Klasse and then the P21S? If so, how do I clean it between uses...soap and water and wring it out? No drying time needed?
Do you have any bonnets or just the pads? I used a SFX3 to apply Klasse AIO, then later used a bonnet on top of the pad for the SG. As for making removal easy, try some of this stuff http://autopia-carcare.com/son-200.html worked better for me than regular detailing spray.
As for the P21S and the PC 7424 its kind of a pain in the butt. The wax is a pain to get out of the container and is worse trying to get it back in. Liquid wax is easier obviously. Klasse and P21S is a good combo though, good luck.

Do whatever works for ya, but I only use bonnets for wax removal. I use the bare pads to apply everything. Klasse is so thin that it's pretty easy to apply by hand with a foam applicator. Just wipe it on front to back. No need to work in circles.
You don't have to get the P21S out of the jar. Just turn the jar upside down on the pad and the wax should drop down, then move the jar around to spread the wax on the pad. Sort of like using a deodorant stick. You never have to touch the wax, just the container.
Liquid wax might be easier to get on the pad, but the results will not be as good. Paste wax always has a higher concentration of Carnauba than liquid wax does. Which is why paste versions of some waxes are more expensive than the liquid version of the wax. Go with paste wax whenever possible.

I have the microfiber bonnets that came with the kit. I suppose the SFX3 pad will see most of the action. I'm still not sure how to clean and dry the pads but I will read up...I am sure the info is there somewhere...

Thanks PB...your help as always is invaluable...
Which pads do you have? Use the firm one for polishing, and apply the Klasse with a soft pad. Then wash the pad and air dry. Let the Klasse cure for 24 hrs, then apply the P21S by hand or with your soft pad and buffer.

Thanks input guys...
I wash my pads on Gentle with Woolite. The pads will float on the water, but they still get pretty clean. Then air dry with the pad leaning up against something, so air can get to both sides. The manufacturer doesn't recommend machine washing, but I've never had any problems. Most of my pads still look like new, except for some staining, which is normal.
Thanks PB...so apply the P21S with one of the soft microfiber bonnets, and then take the wax up with a second bonnet?
I'm sorry. I said the wrong thing. I meant to say pad instead of bonnet. (I editted it.) Wax always goes on smoother and goes farther if you apply it with a foam applicator, like a buffer pad. A bonnet will just soak a lot of it up and waste it.
Or take it off by hand. It doesn't matter. Some really cautious detailers will only remove wax by hand with a soft towel. I do both methods. It just depends how I'm feeling.
Thanks PB...I have the two bonnets. I also have two Sonus Der Wunder polishing towels, and two I picked up at Autozone.
BTW, the Autozone towel, made by Viking, appears to be the same towel as the Sonus Der Wunder. It is yellow instead of green, made in Korea, and priced about the same as Autopia ($5.00 per towel). Just wanted people to know you can pick one up locally instead of waiting for one to be shipped. Caution: the Korean one is sold folded and packaged individaully. Viking also has a three pack (rolled up) that is crap: made in China and has regular seems.
Here is a detail of the Viking and Sonus...
Here is the label for the Viking:
I wish I was out there detailing now. Elwinna is in sunny Miami detailing as we speak. Here, all rain...Boo Hoo

LOL Elwinna is now in her house recouperating!! Sheesh its 85 degrees outside (of course its MUCH cooler in the shade ). My Dad's car is looking really spiffy!! He's totally thrilled with it! I managed to get most of the scratches out from the wetsanding with multiple uses of SFX2 but I'm sure it would have been a lot easier and come out better with SFX1. I tried finding some Meguire's locally but only found the light polish, not anything heavy. I didn't want to waste the whole day looking for it. I think I'll need to get something heavier eventually but I won't need it on the tacoma. I'll also keep an eye out for finer grit sandpaper. My truck will have to be perfect if I fix paint chips. I've still got 3 of the wheels to clean up and polish and the door jams and wheel wells are atrocious. Maybe I'll tackle them and polish the plastic tomorrow while the Klasse AIO cures. Here's how she looks so far...
I'll put on a couple coats of Klasse SG at the beginning of the week. How long do I need to wait between coats of SG?
