Griot's Master Car Care Collection ?

I've been scratching my head on whether to get this car care kit or not. http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1001&SKU=11573 What do you think of it, Pb? You're the car detailing expert around here so I value your opinion.

I don't think it's such a great deal. There's some stuff in those kits that you don't really need. I'd rather put an individual order together, get exactly what you need, and do it cheaper too.

What stuff do you need?

If I was placing an order this is what I would get.

A sheepskin mitt from Griots or a Sea Sponge from Autogeek (I'm leaning towards the sea sponge lately)

I would get some PoorBoys Super Slick Suds car wash http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...300&recview=11

Get a couple wash buckets from anywhere.

A firemans nozzle from AutoZone.

A couple Montery drying towels http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...9280&pd=133820

A Clay Bar kit from anywhere. Might as well go with www.ExcelDetail.com or www.AutoGeek.net

I assume that you don't want to get into a buffer yet, so I'll skip the buffer stuff.

Some PoorBoys polish can be applied by hand for some extra gloss if you want to get your paint super clean (not super necessary, but nice to have) http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...4434&pd=170631

Or Autopia.com sells some good polish. For hand application I'd go with Sonus SFX3.

Some Wax. You can go with Klasse from AutoGeek, or once again with the PoorBoys. http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...4434&pd=170702 I know you probably aren't familiar with their name, but PoorBoys is some great stuff. Serious detailers use their stuff quite often.

P21S is a great wax too, but it's not real durable. You can put it on top of a durable coating like Klasse or PoorBoys EX-P. P21S is at Autopia.com

Or this is a nice wax topper too. http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...4434&pd=220119

Some foam applicators http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...etail&ct=37931

A few polishing towels. These are a great deal http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...29279&pd=97576

A couple of these http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...29279&pd=95550

Then if you don't have some, get some cheap microfiber rags from WalMart for wiping off the engine, wheel wells, tires, exhaust, etc.

NXT Glass cleaner http://www.autogeek.net/mg13324.html

Quick detail spray http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...4434&pd=170704

303 aerospace protectant. Excel or AutoGeek

303 spot remover http://autogeek.net/303cleanspot.html

A cheap stiff brush from WalMart for scrubbing carpet stains

A brush for scrubbing tires and wheel wells http://autogeek.net/oxowhtibrkit.html

Tire Gel, Matte or Gloss
http://www.autogeek.net/entirprotgel.html
http://www.autogeek.net/golclasenhig.html

Eagle One curved Tire Gel applicator from WalMart.

That should do it.

Great list! What's a good quality leather cleaner/protector? Where can I use the 303 (dash, all plastic trim, exterior, etc)? Pb, do you use the matte or gloss tire gel? Gonna get those excel towels at that good price. Cheaper than autopia.com. Also went ahead and ordered the p21s wax and Klasse Sealant Glaze. Thanks!

Lately I'm starting to like Matte tire gel better, but if you have some Gloss gel that you like, after you apply it wipe it wipe the tire with an old rag. That will cut down some of the gloss.

I use 303 to clean and protect leather, plastic, rubber. I just get a rag pretty damp with 303 and then wipe the stuff down, and then wipe it off to get the dirt and oils off, then re-apply it with another rag. For off the shelf, Lexol works good too. You should really do this to your steering wheel, shifter and interior door handles. You don't really notice how dirty they were until after you've cleaned them. The steering wheel feels a lot better after a cleaning. It's good to get the skin oils off of it.

Can I buy the tire gel from a store like Walmart or Autozone? Trying to avoid paying $6 shipping. Same question for the 303. Thanks.
