Water Blade & Bumpers & Water Spots

I was looking at the performance4trucks magazine. I see a Water Blade 11", "One pass dries your vehicle"

Does this item really work?

How do you keep your bumper/plastic trim outside, shiny? I see all dirt, water spots, dust etc....

Also my Windshiled and back window, has some deep water spots. How do i remove them?

I use a waterblade, makes drying MUCH faster. However, it doesn't get all the water, maybe 90% of it though. Get yourself a waffle-pattern towel to run around areas you can't reach with the blade, like door sills, door handles, etc.

I have the California Water Blade, the 12" model, and it works awesome. It will get most of the water off the car. You can use your fingers to make the silicone meet the contours of the vehicle to get more water off.

It's not difficult to use and it speeds up drying by about 1/3 - 1/2 because you will miss some spots or water will accumulate where you lifted the blade.

Water Blades work good. Just make sure your paint is really clean when you use a Water Blade. You should wash it with a mitt or Sea Sponge. Water pressure alone won't get the paint clean enough to use a water blade. If there's any dirt on your paint, the water blade will drag it across your paint.

On plastic use 303 Aerospace protectant, to protect and restore, but it's not too greasy.

For bad water spots read this, from the Exterior Detailing sticky

Detailing your vehicle (Exterior)

On glass, you can also use Chrome polish to remove water spots. Search this forum I have posted info on it before.

for cleaning windows you can use BULLDOG steelwool... wet the glass and rub in circular motions untill you stop feeling friction. make sure to not touck the paint or moulding with the steelwool.... once glass is clean spray the whole car down really well because you dont want any steelwool particles to end up on your towel when drying.

In my experience, steel wool works great, but you have to be careful on newer vehicles. It seems like the glass is softer and will show microscratches from the steel wool. Just a warning.
