need help!!!

I think I messed up big time. Here is my story.

I have a 98 white camry, it had alot of scratch marks, dirt that couldn't be removed, and oxidation all over. So I took the 2000 grit sandpaper, and wetsanded the car, all the scratches are now gone, it's perfectly smooth however it is very dull, no shine at all.

so i took it to a local detailer, assuming that a wax shop would bring back the shine. however, he informed me that he can't preform any detailing becuase the clear coat has been stripped off the car.

what should i do now? the paint is in very good condition, it's just missing the clear coat.

should i go to maaco and let them spray clear coat on it?

thanks

Unless you really got agressive, I doubt you sanded through the clear coat. That guy probably just told you that because he didn't want to work on it.

I'd have to see it myself, but I'd guess that all it really needs is some serious polishing. Do you have a buffer? You should never attempt wetsanding if you don't have a buffer and heavy cut polish to bring back the gloss. It's pretty much impossible to do by hand.

Got any pictures?

If you were near SW Ohio I could probably fix it for ya.

only way out is get a buffer and some buffing compound and buff the car ...i highly doubt you can sand off all the clear coat with 2000 grit unless you sanded for a whole day or something

i nice job with a buffer and compound should bring back the paint. believe me ive brong back the shine in paint in some serious fucked up cars. but if you don't know how to use a buffer don't attempt it with compound cause you really have to work it in the the paint but if you do it to much you can burn the paint. where you live by?? NY???

my step father has a detailing business in NY and he can help you out if you live in NY that is....
