You also get that black stain stuff from the LUB part of the oil change. Allot of mecanics just squirt the grease in and don't even look to see if any really is needed so it will spill out all over your wheel. Thus, it can throw your tires off balance too...

That looks like quite an accumulation of brake dust. Find a good wheel cleaner, appropriate brushes and dedicate some time.....

Have a pressure washer with a tip set? If you do use the needle(most narrow) tip. Spray some foam wheel cleaner on it and let it sit and then blast it off with the pressure washer. BE VERY careful to not hit your tires. The tip I use can actually pierce a hole right through the tire.

When I detailed my dad's car I used a brush and wheel cleaner to start, then used an old piece of clay to take off the stubborn stuff. I had already clayed both the car and the windows so it was destined for the trash anyway.

Yeah, that's built up brake dust. I really like Eagle One foaming tire/wheel cleaner. And you'll need some firm wheel brushes too.

You might want to look into buying a Mother's Powerball Mini and some wheel polish. I saw one at PepBoys today. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...nce&n=15684181

the junkyard supra rims i bought had similar stains. If all else fails start wetsanding them down with progressivly finer and finer sandpaper. You can make your rims shine like brushed aluminum again.

Its caused by not cleaning your wheels often enough..its brake dust thats baked on by the heat of your wheel. My dad does this all the time, when I visit, his front wheels on his caddy are solid black...I use greased lightling and a tooth brush with pretty good results, just don't spray GL on the center cap or let it dry on the wheel, cause it will streak, pretty strong stuff!
It will come off, just takes alot of elbow grease and any good cleaner

yeah so i went for it and cleaned them sawblades up. it took hours.haha. i used some of my dads industrial degreaser stuff, a rough sponge pad uh thing, a toothbrush, a sharpened shishkabob stick, then some metal wheel polish. it looks very very much better then how it did, but still needs a little something to get the face of the wheel look better(there's some kind of weird streaking action goin on). i was thinking about taking it to the car wash and see if they can take care of it(i got a $3 coupon ).
i'll post up pictures when i get a chance
thanks guys

The streaks are probably caused by a harsh cleaner being apply in the past! You may have to polish them with a mild abrasive.....or you could just Armorall them! that would hide the streaks somewhat, not totally, but they would look better..but they would get dirty quicker!!

Temp cheap fix!

Whatever you buy look and make sure it has phosphoric acid at my dealership we used straight acid on the rims/hub caps to get it off. Spray that shit on then pressure spray it off.
