How exazctly do you dry windows with newpaper?

I read on autopia and it said that it's easy to clean windows with water and dry them with newspaper. Now how exactly does this work? Do I set the newpaper on it or do I have to actually dry the windows. It is said that the ink seves as a polish for the glass. Has anyone ever tried this?

Growing up we used to use Windex on the glass sliding doors in our house and wiped them dry with newspaper. Supposedly the newspaper cleaned the stuff off the best. I have since heard that is a myth and newspaper can scratch the glass so now I have no idea...

The info on autopia and the forums is usually pretty good. If someone posts a bogus post, others usually debunk it...

I have wadded it up and scrubbed the glass. Don't know that it does that much better.

Well I usually use glass cleaner made especially for cars, spray it on the glass, crumple the newspaper into somewhat of a ball shape, and wipe the windows clean. That's how I do it and for the inside on the tint I use the same cleaner and those soft disposable towels that come on the roll.

I only use low-nap MF towels and NXT window cleaner.

Wouldn't you use the auto section? or at least the sports so you can keep up with the scores?

I haven't done that in a while but....I would crumple it up and then use it like you would a towel.

for me, I sponge window with water and dry with a chamois.

I actually use a low-lint 100% cotton polishing cloth to wipe dry. Seems to do the best job for me and find that it doesnt scratch at all.

I find that newspaper leaves black marks across the window as the ink comes off it

On non-tinted glass, I use a damp microfiber towel to clean, and a dry microfiber towel to dry.
