Detailed a motorcycle today

I detailed my first bike today. This is a mostly stock 2001 Suzuki GSXR. It had great paint, but I polished it several times and made the black paint look real deep and wet. I was able to get the rub marks out of the tank where the riders pants rubbed on the paint, and I also got all the microscratches out of the windscreen. It was pretty much perfect by the time I got done with it. I wish I would have taken more pictures. This thing was sexy.

Looks like a great job! The black does have a nice deep shade to it.

Are bikes harder to clean because they tend to be more dirty?

The tire shine is just on that little 1" sidewall. It's not on the actual tread of the tire. Per the owners request, I used a foam applicator and wiped it on that little lip. I never use spray-on tire shine; It gets all over the place.

I think bikes are pretty easy to clean because they have a lot less surface area than a car, but they have a lot more angles and nooks and crannies. Except for the brake dust on the wheels, most bikes don't really get that dirty because most people don't ride them in the rain. But a lot of bikes usually have microscratches or maring because of the fact that the rider(s) touch the paint a lot while they are riding. You gotta watch those buttons and zippers on your pants.

The polish is what makes it look so good. I got the paint super smooth and clean before waxing. That bike had pretty hard paint, so I had to use an agressive polish to get the microscratches out of it. I used PoorBoys SSR3, then PBs SSR2, then waxed it with PB's EX.

Wow, SSR3? That is some pretty hard paint, haha. Guess it needs it though, more prone to be dinged and what not then a normal car.

yeah, I started out with SSR2 and it didn't do much so I stepped up to the big guns. I went over the bike 3 times with SSR3 then two times with SSR2. I guess some motorcycles have real hard clear coats. Maybe to resist damage from the riders rubbing on it?
