Just waxed the Camry..have a few questions.

Sup I just waxed the Camry this evening...I used Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax..and it worked like a charm I guess...what I did was I put a lil bit on the applicator that came with it and spread it evenly as the instructions said, and then I let it dry and took it off with a microfiber applicator pad. I will try to post pics tomorrow..now for the questions...

1) Was it okay for me to put a lil bit on the chrome emblems? I took it off afterwards, will it do any damage?

2) I didn't get to wax the windows, because I was afraid it might leave streaks, can anyone please school me on waxing windows?

3) I also got a tinsy bit of wax on the tail lights, but I quickly wiped it off but it keeps going through my head that there is still some residue...will it do any damage?

4) I got a lot of wax on my hands since the applicator pad was soo small, and I thoroughly washed my hands afterwards..but they still smell like wax...will it hurt?

TIA

Wax will not hurt the emblems, however, there might be white specks which you'll need wooden toothpicks to remove.

You generally only wax the painted portions of the vehicle. However, it shouldn't leave streaks or anything if you do wax them for some reason. I did it to my dad's Corolla when I was a little kid :-p

If you got wax on the lights, that's not a problem at all. Just let it dry to a haze and wipe off.

Best way to remove the wax from your hands is to use dish detergent, especially if you hands are beading water. You can try to use rubber or latex gloves in the future if you desire.

Wax isn't really dangerous for you unless you try to eat it or something - which I don't forsee you trying to do. Wax is not harmful to any surfaces on your car, except perhaps for some rough/textured plastic parts because it is very difficult to remove.

1) No. They actually make chrome wax to make it shinier and protect it more. Just wipe it off and you should be fine.

2) Some people actually like waxing the windows, you would apply it just like on paint. I rather just use a window cleaner then wax it though.

3) No damage to taillights, you might want to use some window cleaner on tail lights to get it cleaner.

4) Dish detergent works well as suggested.

You can pretty much wax and polish any smooth surface on your vehicle, which includes chrome, glass, and plastic. I wax my windows and headlights/taillights all the time. Just be sure that it's smooth plastic, not textured. Waxing your headlights will prevent oxidation later. Waxing your windows is probably better than using glass cleaner. It should leave them perfectly clean and smooth, no streaks. Just apply the wax thin and buff off thoroughly. Its a good idea to polish and wax your windows, because it makes them roll up and down easier, which makes it easier on the window motor.
