Polish and wax or new paint???

Hi!

I have a '91 Camry in very good shape, zero rust - but the paint is looking chalky. Should i have it polished and waxed or take it to Maaco? In other words, how much can a polish and wax do for chalky paint? My goal is to keep the car as long as it runs and have it look alright too.

Thanks!

Can you post a picture? Unless you can see metal or primer then you can probably buff off the oxidized paint and make it look like new. Give the hood a little elbow grease with some polish or paint cleaner and see what happens. If the paint looks good in that area then you can probably salvage the rest of the paint job. If you don't think you can do it all by hand then you might want to go to a good detail shop and let them buff it out. I would stay away from Maaco.
