3rd Generation How do you keep a good smell?

Does any1 know how to keep a car nice and fresh for a long period of time? I clean the inside of my car with Blue Coral Upholstry Cleaner and works perfect but it just doesn't last long and I have to use a Carfreshener every-once in a while to keep it that way. Recently There has been a lot of heat trapped inside the car (GOD I can't wait until winter time!!!)It smells like I've been smoking weed in my car and I don't smoke period . is there anyway I can keep the car smelling good with out using Carfreshener so much. Oh Yeah! I only clean the carpet and seats with the upholstery cleaner.

how do you get a smell to stay though? Like new car smell or something? It doesn't stay as long as new cars have that distinct smell

The new car smell is infact a not something dealerships add to make it smell better, its the solvants and additives they use to make the interior which leave an odor. There are numerious studies stating the new car smell is harmful for one's health! But i'll still rather sniff that than a gym socks! (i change in my car for night school, so at times my car smells bad cus of socks that i wore all day at work being stored when i'm at school!!).

My coupe smells like ass esp on a hot day, the previous owner was a major heavy smoker. I've tried every thing, but it always comes back..An open box of Bakeing Soda has helped alot lately, but it hasn't been that hot... I use lots of fabrese! I understand there's an "ozone" treatment you can do, but I've not investigated that yet!

Cool

  1. Clean leather is happy leather. Lexol
  2. Shampoo the carpet. Vacuum 2-4 weeks
  3. No smoking in the car
  4. Clean the ventalation system, and kill any mildew in it
  5. Install a the charcoal/hepa air filter generally located in the center stack. Clean the blower air-filter if provided
  6. Attach fabric softner sheets to air filter, hidden under seat vent outlets & hide under seats

Fabreeze masks an oder. It does not remove it. Clean the glass, shampoo the carpets & fabric, along with putting baking soda on it.

Cool

Noone is stoppin you from buying one... Just clean / de-mildew the vent system FIRST. Filters only mask problems, not solve them. & mold/mildew pose a health hazard.
