4th Generation Looking for carpet/upholstery vaccum/cleaners

I need some tools to clean the fabric interior and carpets of my car. I just have some simple APC and brush it, but no vaccum to dry off the water and such. I've seen people use the ShopVac and Bissel's Littel Green Machine. I'm looking for a vaccum that can take up water and have the option to blow air out whenever I clean my engine compartment.

Would it be a good idea to buy a ShopVac or the little green machine? Or should I just rent the steam vaccums from a nearby grocery store whenever necessary. I'd prefer having my own eqiupment, but if their steam vaccums are much better, I may stick with that.

I have a little green carpet cleaner. It's so cheap, just buy one. Also get a Ridgid wet/dry vac from Home depot. There cheap with lots of suction power and the option to reverse the hose to blow the air

Buy a green machine and a shop vac. I really like my Ridgid wall mount vac. It's got lots of suction and doesn't take up much room. Home Depot has 'em.

Buy a shopvac with a micro cleaning kit attachment. I have it and it works great. All the power of my shopvac sucking in from the size of a pencil. Gets into all tight spots. Rent a steam cleaner for now (what im doin) then later buy a bissel green machine (which i plan on doin)

Here is the best place(price) for getting a Little Green Clenaing Manchine?

Are there different packages for the green machine with different atachment packages are is it all the same thing.

I've seen some internet prices rangong from $79 at linnens and things to 149 at amazon.
What should I look for in the package?

thanks.

We bought the Bissell Proheat to clean the carpets in our house and it works quite well. We still get them professionally cleaned every now and then, but the Bissell does the job in between.

We also use it to do our car/truck interiors, as it has the necessary attachments and such. I can't say it's the best, because I've never used anything else. But, it does a nice job and I haven't come across any stains I couldn't remove.

In both cases (house and vehicles) we use Folex with it. It works great.

EDIT: I also have a Sears wet/dry shop vac with a detachable blower that really works great. It's one 'combo' tool that doesn't compromise in either of its functions. However, I don't use it when I'm cleaning carpets...I don't need it. The Bissell alone does the job.

I see that there are two versions of the little green machine. Ane has the 9 amp motor (model 1425) and one has a 3 amp motor (model 1400).

Is the 9 amp motor the right one to get for car work or is it too strong for upoltery.

Some kits also come with a turbobrush. Is the turbobrush useful for car work or does the regular steam cleaner attachment do everything typically needed. I'll be mostly cleaning baby spills and the occasional exploaded diaper in a car seat. (YUK!!)

thanks.

One puts out heated water, and one doesn't. Get the heated unit. It costs a little more, but I think it's worth it. The Turbo Brush is not really necessary. I think a stiff hand brush works better. Most of the time the cleaner/water and suction does the majority of the work.

Folex

For minor drips or stains you ought to try Folex stain remover. Works great, and all you do is spray it on, rub the site a bit, then press it dry with a towel. You can't beat that stuff!

I work at Thermax World Headquarters and will be using one this weekend to clean my car.

They have rental locations throughout the U.S. at various stores.
