Attention PB!

Hey could you post up the link to the PC package deal on autopia or whever it is. I need the one that comes with the backing plate and all the pads. Also, could you recommend me some polish for a silverstreak? I need to take care of some trail rash as well.

Looks like I'm getting the PC for XMAS.

Anybody can post a good deal here if they find one better, but this is what I would go with.

They're on sale at AutoGeek.net right now. http://www.autogeek.net/hk7424.html

or if you want a kit with some polish and wax: http://www.autogeek.net/popoprkit.html This PoorBoys kit is pretty sweet. I love their SSR polishes, Nattys Blue wax, and Spray and Gloss detailing spray. Great kit. Plus PoorBoys products can be used in direct sunlight if you have to. The only thing you might want to add is a couple more buffing towels and a couple Waffle Weave drying towels if you don't already have some.

There haven't been many PC deals from Autopia-CarCare lately. The only thing I've ordered from them in a while was their SwirlBuster Pad and Polish, which is awesome stuff. http://www.autopia-carcare.com/sonsbfpp.html
http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-450.html

How about washing equipment? Do ya have some good mitts, buckets, wheel/tire brushes, etc?

Ya might want to look into a foam gun too. I love mine, and use it EVERY time I wash a vehicle. It spreads the soap evenly which reduces marring, plus it's fun to use. http://www.autogeek.net/auqufofogun.html The quart size is fine. The 1/2 gallon is too big. You can fill it with most any kind of car wash soap. I'm currently using Meguiars NXT car wash soap. It works good, and is easy to find locally in 1/2 gallon jugs.

Detailers Paradise has a similar bundle with the PC 7336 (improved counter-balance) for $179 and free shipping.

http://www.detailersparadise.com/Vie...071-2491365464

Plus they have their new Prima line on sale, as well as Klasse and a few others (check out the "November specials" link.

Edit: I've been using the Fourstar product line (paint cleanser and UPP) on mine with much success. Finishing with a top coat of Prima Slick QD. Very slick, and the metallic shines very nicely in the sun. Water still beading after 4 months...

Silver is relatively simple to take care of, and doesn't demand all the special waxes and polishes like other colors. I'd go with quality + durability, and stay with synthetics.

Edit2: Not sure why I posted given your subject title. If you want only Pb's feedback, maybe a PM is the better way???

I just wanted his attention cause he seems to be the master of detailing around here.

But thanks a lot for your input. You actually have the same color truck as me, so your opinion would more than likely be better than say someone like PB with black paint.

I use Klaase for my wax. Though I've been wanting to top it off with an actual carnuba paste wakes for that added shine and protection. I just needed a PC because trying to buff out trail rash by hand is a major PITA. Plus I still haven't gotten it all out. I think the scratches just need the extra touch that a PC can give me. Either that or the scratches are deeper than I think.

Thank you both! I really really appreciate it!

Yea - I've had some of the same rash on mine, and most of it will come out with the PC (not the stuff that's cut through the clear coat ). I had two lines that ran down from my front fender to the right passenger door - my guess is it was a small pine tree. They weren't cut into the clear coat, but just surface scuffs that didn't come out with a wash. The PC and light polish totally wiped them out.

The best thing to do is start with a paint cleanser or light polish, and a white or orange pad. Get what you can out with that, and then if you still have problem areas, try the more abrasive/cutting polishes like (SSR 2.5) with the orange pad (or yellow if you get brave). I try to use the cutting polish as little as possible. But if you do use it, remember to go back over it with a cleanser / light polish to get rid of any potential haze left behind by the compound, then finish with a sealant.

You've probably seen Pb's polish video. That's pretty much the same process I follow. Start by working the polish in at a 3 or 4 speed, then speed it up for final pass over the area.

Definitely worth the investment!

Four Star is good stuff too. Like Screeber, I'm using their Ulitimate Paint Protection. Good stuff.

Here's some polishing videos that are better than the one I made.
