Unhappy White paint on my black Taco

Hi everyone,
I got my first dent over the new year's weekend after six months of perfection. It's on my passenger door about six inches under the door handle. What urks me is that I tried SO hard to avoid dents by parking away from other cars, etc, but then I get this dent from my brother's friend from NY city in my own garage! It would seem that people from NY city don't have the same hate for dents in a new automobile that I do because my brother, also living in Manhattan, wanted me to shrug it off telling me it's going to happen sooner or later. All my extra efforts down the drain.

Anyway, it's there and there is some residual white paint stuck on top of the dent. I was wondering if anyone knows the best, most gentle way to remove the white scuff.

Happy New years TNers!

Try polishing compound. Lightly rub until the white paint comes off. Follow up with a polish to remove any remaining swirl marks then follow up with wax.

Thanks, does everyone think this is the best way to do it? Pb, any suggestions? Will a claybar take the scuff mark off?

Thanks

There's more than one way to skin a cat...

Claybar would be good if there's a thickness to the paint transfer. If it's very thin, try just about anything else, including polishing compound or a pre-wax cleaner or a scratch remover -- but go least-aggressive first.

Likely a carnauba cleaner wax will take care of it (synthetic waxes tend to have lighter polishes). I try to keep some Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax around just for this purpose.

A clay bar or paint cleaner should work, just re-wax the area afterwards.

I agree with Camrycoupe. My wife side-swiped a mailbox last month, and it left a fairly large paint scrape on the left front fender and lower valance. I used a PC with an orange pad and some light polish and it came off really nicely (and easily). In my case, the paint came off, and then there were scratches in the clearcoat underneath it, and I managed to get rid of those too with the polish.

Reapply your wax/sealant after you polish it up to get protected again.

Claybar and a light polish.
