hazy headlights

ive always had this problem that my left headlight is a bit yellow/hazy and my right one is clean and polished ... is there any way to get the left headlight cover to be clear like the right one, or do i have to replace it?

the good news is they put out equal power when the lights are on, so its not a big deal - it just looks ugly:

It's probably exterior oxidation. Try a Mothers PowerBall Mini and some plastic polish. You could also use a regular paint polish, medium to light cut. A cleaner wax might work if you don't want to buy polish. Put some polish on the PowerBall and start out slow. Spread it around, and put the drill on high speed and work it back and forth. Keep doing it until the lens is clear.

What PB said.

It looked quite a bit worse before I polished them, but it didn't show quite so well in the photo. Now they look like new.

Uh Jim, isn't that the same photo twice?

Edit: Or maybe you used a tripod left in the same position and it's hard to tell there difference in the pictures?

Tripod. Yeah, it ain't the greatest comparo. If you look close, you'll see some blue/gray polish splatters on the bottom pic. I need to do the neighbor's Camry some day and get some better pics.

You're probably getting more oxidation on one side of the vehicle due to various reasons, including but not limited to:

- Replacement with an inferior lens.
- More sun exposure on one side of the vehicle.
- Whatever you're polishing the one lens with isn't getting it as smooth as it should be, thus leaving it vulnerable to more oxidation.

Telling us what procedure and products you're currently using might give some clue as to why you're having such issues.

I see. Mine aren't too horrible but I'm gonna borrow my friend's powerball and see if I can make them look any better. If so it'll make me feel better about the Depo's not fitting in w/o having to do a conversion.

i dont currently polish my headlights ... they probably get cleaned with whatever spills on them when i wash my car, but thats it

the reason the clean one is so clean is because its a newer headlight piece - i cant remember why i replaced it, but i replaced it within the last 4 years ... the other one has been there for a decade
