Cleaning shoe scuffs from interior

How do I get rid of those black streaks from the soles of peoples' shoes? They are on the plastic protectors (under the doors) and kick guard (next to the gas pedal) of my '03 Camry. I've tried a dish soap solution and window cleaner, but I don't want to use anything stronger, and risk discoloring the material.

The dish soap removed a little (the door guard used to look worse) but it didn't remove all of it, and I was scrubbing for awhile.

Try Alcohol or Goo Gone. They won't hurt that plastic.

Lighter fluid (goo gone) on a rag and wipe quickly, and let it evaporate.

Be sure not to use Goof Off on plastic. Goof Off is much stronger than Goo Gone.

Mr. Clean MagicEraser. Works wonders on the scuff panel. Made my dad's Camry a few years younger lol. Some of the marks were stubborn so I'll be lying if I said it looked like new.

Haven't tried it on the vinyl kickpanel yet.

Yeah, the Magic Eraser is great too. Just moisten it and rub.

Would an eraser, such as Mars Plastic eraser, work also?

I figure that shoe scuffs are from rubber scraped off and embedded in the plastic which is why I'm thinking slight abrasion from an eraser should work.

I got some Goo Gone and tried that out. Worked like a charm! Thanks for all the helpful suggestions! I went ahead and debadged while I was at it. Now what am I going to do with these pretty gold emblems?

Good.

My emblems are stuck to the side of one of my rolling toolboxes.

What ever you do, don't be like the stupid owner of a Honda Civic that I saw on the street. The emblem was glued to the airbag cover on the steering wheel. Gee...that's really safe! Nothing like a chunk metal punching you in the face at 200 MPH.

^ That's due to the abrasives in toothpaste.

BTW, I tried an eraser and it doesn't work completely. Since those plastic are textured, the eraser does not get the low areas in the material. Those little crevices are not big enough for the plastic or rubber material to reach thus it is unable to remove all of the scuff mark.
