Go or No go?

So my sister asked me to detail her car. Her car isn't in tip-top shape, its got few rust spots. She wants it detailed so it looks nice during summer and its protected from more salt damage and to prevent any chance of more rust to develop for next winter season. My question is, do I just polish and wax over the rust spots like a regular job? Or do I have to work around it??

Be careful around rust. If your buffing pad picks up a piece of rust it will rub the rust into the paint, and scratch the surrounding areas.
