Am i doing something wrong with Meguiar's?

So, I bought Meguiar's to get rid of some scratches on my car. I followed all the instrutions and it was working great UNTIL i wiped it after it was dried. The scratches just came back. These are very light scratches so I thought it could have taken it away. Am I doing something wrong here thats causing this? I waited after applying for only 2-3mins before wiping.

This is what I did...
1. Applied some on a 100% cotton towel.. Wiped it on the scratch car area
2. Waited for 2-3mins
3. Wiped it with another 100% cotton towel

You're not using it wrong...You just bought the wrong product.

You need a polish of some sort.
Do they have Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner and #9 Swirl Remover?

If not, you might have to buy something like Sonus SFX-2 Swirl remover.

I'm not certain, but some of these products may need a buffer. It can probably be done by hand also, but it would take a lot longer.

It's my understanding (I haven't used it) that ScratchX has fillers -- you may not have let it dry long enough and/or you may have "removed" it too thoroughly (removing the fillers). In other words, it's probably a technique thing. So try again.

If you can't get that to work, try Mothers Scratch Remover -- it has no fillers and you'll have a permanent fix.

Of course, your results of using any product can vary depending on the scratch. If you're not sure it's a removable scratch, give us some more info and/or a pic.

I've also had pretty good luck with Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax on some lighter scratches.

Omg, with Scratch X, you rub hard, you buff it real hard, you need to remove some paint so that you can get the scratched out. It's not a WOWO (Wipe On Wipe Off) product. You really need to use some elbow grease and rub hard to get the scratch out. It may take abut 2-3 applications.

When it comes to scratch repair, a buffer, pads, and real polish is priceless.

If your fingernail hangs-up when you drag it over the scratch then the general rule is that it can be polished out, or it can at least be made less noticeable. If you can see primer or metal then you need to get it touched up or re-painted.
