Loose the terry and the diapers. They will leave microscratches. In the sunlight rub a soft terry cloth towel on a freshly polished surface. It will probably leave little lines in your paint.
Good microfiber is the best. Waffle weave microfiber for drying. Tight weave microfiber for buffing off polish and wax.
Real wool wash mitt. Apply wax and polish with foam applicators. Everything else that touches your paint should be microfiber.
The microfiber cloth is nice but hard to maintain. The problem that I experienced with the micro is getting small debris caught in the fiber and scratching the paint. I bought a pack of 24 and ended up using them only once. Don't get me wrong the microfiber cloth are nice and does a good job polishing but you need to be cautious and make sure they are clean before you use them.

If you bought a pack of 24 I'll wager that you bought cheap towels. Don't buy cheap towels. Wash them in warm water with liquid detergent with no bleach and no fabric softeners. Tumble dry low. Lay flat on a clean countertop and inspect both sides for debris before folding. Store in a clean place.

You bought cheap microfiber. There's a big difference. High quality detailing microfiber doesn't grab debris like that. I like to use polishing towels with a tight weave. Not fuzzy.

I bought several microfibers at different places (Tap plastics, Kragens, costco) and I really didn't notice the difference in the weave. I did notice that they all grabbed debris. What brand and size do you buy?

I've never really seen high quality microfiber at a retail store. Ya gotta order it online. It's worth it though. How the fabric is woven makes a big difference.

Anyone here tried Megs MF towel??? Dont get me wrong, they are really good towel. The only cons with these towel is that after several use, its fluffyness is gone. It could be on the way I wash it. After use, I actually dump it in a backet of water with some laundry soap on it. Let it sit there then the following day is when I actually wash it by hand. I found that if I do it these way, dirts that accumulate in my MF are easily to remove. But the only consequense is, after several use it becomes less fluffy. Is there something wrong on how I take care of it? Is it because of the laundry soap? Do you guys use certain kind of soap in washing your mf? I also heard that you can maintain its fluffiness by adding half of vinegar in water after you wash your mf. I think I'll try that. Oh, if you have Kragen around your area, you can get 3mf in a package for 10bucks. I know its pricy but its worthed.
I always just wash mine in woolite light detergant on the gentle cycle, then low heat in the drier. thats how i wash my wash mit too. Havent found a good way to clean the foam applicators yet though, tend to wash those by hand, then air dry.

The vinegar removes any left over soap residue, which will make them more fluffy. Too much vinegar can take out the absorbancy from your towels. Just do a teaspoon per towel. And only add the vinegar during the final rinse cycle.
the problem w/ terry cloth is that everytime ive tried to use one on anything ... i dont really get scratches, but i get a bunch of lint and fibers all over whatever im using it on
which just means you have to go back over it with a microfiber cloth to get all the fibers off
i have 1 nice MF towel that i got from AutoZone for like $8 ... i dont know what size or anything like that, but i know it works great
and i use a sponge for washing ... i still havent figured out the best thing to use for waxing/polishing unless you have a buffer of some sort, but i do everything by hand so its a big pain
