Armor All Haze

Hello all, I have a '94 Corolla DX. The center console has that little red clock in the upper, right-hand corner. Problem is, it looks like the previous owner must've sprayed armor all (or something similar) on it. The thing is all hazy looking, and if the sun is shining then forget about reading it. If you get it wet it looks normal, but as soon as it dries it's hazy again. Does anyone know a good method to clear that up (besides replacing the clock)? I know its anal, but it drives me crazy. TIA!

It's probably scratched from wiping it with a rough rag. Plastic polish might help.

No, it's definitely not scratched from something like that. It's definitely a chemical thing. I've seen this before first hand when i got Armor All on a clear plastic lens.

If it drives you nutts by looking at that clock, cover it with something. Problem solve.... Seriously a good plastic polish should solve your problem. There are variety of them. Just pick the one that you will like.

If it's Armorall then just clean it off with glass cleaner or a safe solvent. 50/50 water/alcohol mix.

Well I removed the clock, and I tried just about every type of cleaning solvent I could think of but nothing seems to touch this. So, I'm either going to cover that hole with something else, or go to a junk yard to find a replacement clock whose lens is not hazed up.

Just for kicks I called the dealer and asked them how much for a new one. This is hilarious, it was $250.00. This is about as cheap a clock as its possible to have, so they are insane.

Look for a replacement at a salvage yard, eBay or Craig's List (or maybe here). Or mask off the lens and use a plastic polish.
