Friend's Accord is done!

First off, my thanks to PB, TouringCamry and ToyotaJimD for their help in answering my questions!

My bro and I did the whole shebang last week (man, that can sound dirty can't it?? ). I've never seen a car's paint in such a bad shape before.

I mean, I've ridden in his car since 2001 and I always thought it looked ok (clean or dirty) but you don't realise til you run your hand over the paint.

First off, it was his first car wash in a year .

Got rid of as much dirt as possible (including wheel well and underbody)

Then after drying, we claybarred the car (while my friend decided he'll clean his interior). I think I need a new bar now. It's no longer yellow. There was soo much crud on the roof, hood and lower doors (the rest of the car was surprisingly good for 11 years) that my claybar is pretty much at retirement. (This is the second time I've used the claybar).

After that, I added Mother's pre-wax cleaner and it was already starting to shine. We skipped the sealant and glaze since it was already dark by then and we had to use the garage light. After the wax, it was awesome! My friend decided to help us wax the car since he was done with the interior.

I never knew a beige accord could look so nice since most, if not all of the beige 96/97 Accords I see around here are never shiny, more of a matte look.

Anyway, I don't have any good pics since, like I said, it was finished in the dark. We've been busy in the last week to take any good day time pics (that and it has been raining).

Anyway, a last question about the Sealant and Glaze. Do I apply it like PB suggested in the other thread "Using Klasse Glaze.. how?" ??

i.e. wait 30 mins before buffing off then waiting ~a day before applying the wax?

Be mindful of what type of wax you are using. Like I stated in your other thread, cleaner wax has some polishing properties so it can take off some of what you put down. If you put wax on top of glaze, only use pure wax, no cleaner waxes.

Are you doing all this by hand or do you have a buffer?

yeah I know, I'm so impressed, I was thinking of doing the same to my car!

Yeah, I followed your advice and bought a new set of Mother's Pure Carnuba wax (the one I had was the genuine brazilian wax that had some cleaner stuff in it... no wonder my dad's Camry looked good without polishing and after claybarring.)

I did it all by hand. My friend was careful to apply sparingly.

Edit: The Camry's dead. It was in an accident last Sunday and the insurance company totalled it yesterday =(.

I just apply Klasse to the whole car and then wipe it all off at once. Apply it thin. If you want even more shine, wait a day to add another coat of Klasse or carnauba.

hmmm... alright, I'll try that when I have time (which might be a week and a half from now lol).

My colour is Tideland Pearl so even though it's dark, I wonder how glossy and wet-looking I can get it esp. since it's a Prius so I don't think they'll use any special paint or additives in the paint to make it look nice that'll add weight to the car.

What is color is tideland pearl?

Pearl means there is a pearl coat between the base and clear coat which is what most cars now come with. But that doesn't mean Toyota skips primers and flex agents (for plastic panel).
