What should i do?

hi, Im thinking about getting my car exterior detailed i was thinking should i. my car does not really shine much like when i first got it. all i see is swiarl marks. i used to wax it every month except during the winter.
should I:

A- Clay Bar my 2004 Camry then get it Compound at the Detail shop
or
B- Just get it Compound at the Detail shop only and skip the clay bar

I would compound the car my self but i dont have a buffer or know how the process goes. by the way what does compounding the car really do?

You could clay it yourself and then let them polish it. Get a good shop, and ask what steps they use. Keep shopping if they say that they use a 1 step polish/wax. Check out some of their customers cars. Watch for buffer swirls or holograming.
