Heavy Oxidization Removal Help!

My gf's Sonoma has some HEAVY paint oxidization on the hood. The rest of the truck is fine except for the hood. Its a whitish color, waxing does nothing either.

I took some crappy turtle wax rubbing compound and in about an hour i managed to get a good 1ft x 2ft section off. Lots of compound and sweat later. it looks a lot better, water finally beads on it.

Is there anything you recommend instead? Something local though. Not keen on sandpaper.

And also getting this back to a shine what do you recommend? Im doing this all by my own 2 hands, no porter cables for me sadly.

Just keep doing what you're doing. Polish and a buffer would speed things up a lot.

A very fine grit rubbing compound paste might speed up the job. An auto parts or auto paint store should have it. Read up on what hand motion you should use to not leave marks. Which out on part corners least you take the paint off to the primer.

Suggest for now substituting arm power for power tools or more aggressive compounds least you risk leaving marks.
