Canada "Goo Gone" wins again

I ended up washing my truck this afternoon and noticed that over the last couple days
some small flowering buds (like off a cheery tree or something) had landed on my truck from the wind and rain we had then dried on the paint...leaving little yellow stains after I sprayed them off with the hose and washed the truck. Seemed to have stained the surface clearcoat/paint. I was a bit pissed and thought there had to be something to try and get it off without hurting the paint..so I dabbed some "goo gone" on a paper towel and buffed it right off then just washed over it with my soapy sponge...done deal

Since WD40 will take overspray off of clearcoat, I wonder if it would take these stains off too ???

Some GROW 1705, 3M Prepsol (08984), or any other body shop safe wax/adhesive remover will work even better (and cost less). I stopped buying products like Goo Gone and tar removers in favor of Prepsol, which can be picked up at good automotive paint supply shops.

I guarantee you added some swirls to your paint by doing this. If you care.

I would have washed it real good with a soapy mitt, then clayed it good with lots of lube. A clay bar kit is a much safer way to remove contaminants from your paint. Paper towels are no good on our soft paint jobs.

I got some small scratches/swirls with goo gone and a microfiber when removing my passenger door badge. Paper towel no good, elbow grease definately no good.

This is why I always prefer to use products that are designed for automotive paint care before resorting to any shop chemicals.
