Are wheel brushes good?

I just got a wheel brush to clean all the brake dust around my wheels. I was wondering if it's a good idea? Does it scratch up the wheels? The material is pretty rough? Not really though...

If it's a brush that has split-end bristles, like the Mothers brush I use on occasion, they seem to be very gentle and get in the nooks and crannies of some wheels that I can't reach with my dedicated wheel mitt.

It kinda depends on the style of your wheels. I sometimes use a brush, but I prefer to use a dedicated wheel mitt when I can. Most of the time it works better than a brush. Sometimes brushes will miss spots. With a mitt I can feel the wheel and use my fingers to get in all the curves.

Eagle One all Wheel & Tire cleaner + a mitt = clean wheels.

The black wheel shmitt is what I use now.

I used to just spray with strong simple green degreaser and clean it with a cotton terry towel, and use the brushes only on the tires. But that shmitt has been great, it can be used on the wheel wells, the tires, and the wheel itself.
