Question about cleaner waxes...

If I use cleaner wax on top of an already waxed surface (that's been waxed with synthetic wax) will the cleaner wax remove all the synthetic wax that I previously applied?

And how often is it recommended to "freshen up" the wax between waxing jobs?

Yes. Cleaner wax is usually used only after claying or after the polish step. It is to remove any polish residue, but usually claying will remove all previous layers of wax.

By 'freshen up', I presume you mean applying spray waxes. I usually apply spray waxes after I do a quick QD over the car. If the car has been parked outside for a while, or if there was a slight rain/shower, I'd do a quick QD and spray wax. But if it's sunny for two weeks straight, I'd dust it off and spray wax every 2 weeks.

If you want to freshen-up a synthetic, use a Pure Carnauba Wax, a Top Coat, or try a spray wax.

A Cleaner Wax generally has strong enough polishes to remove anything you're trying to apply it on top of.
