use a cleaner that is PH Balanced so it won't etch your wheels (p21s wheel gel link and a soft bristle brush)
clean brake dust off frequently so it doesn't damage the finish
try drying your wheels quickly with a soft towel so waterspots don't form
use a wax or wheel sealant (poor boys wheel sealant is good) to make cleaning it easier.

if you're really die hard you can claybar and use a wheel sealant.

I was reading a message board where the guy claybarred his wheels, used Zymol HD Cleanse, and applied Zymol Royale Glaze.

Polish and use synthetic wax. Klasse is good. It can handle the heat pretty good. A carnauba wax will evaporate off of wheels pretty quick.

If they are bare aluminum then you need to get a Mothers PowerBall Mini and some Mothers aluminum polish. Go to work, and get em shiny. Then wax em.

Keep brake dust from sitting on the wheels too long.

clean it always. don't let the brake dust stick too long, it leaves stains on the finish.
