cleaning the stock rims

Can anyone suggest a good product to clean the stock toyota rims? Also does anyone know what kind of rims are they? Aluminum, steel, copper, forged, cast, chrome, etc?

Eagle One All Wheel & Tire cleaner. It's safe on all wheels cuz it's alkaline based. Not acid. It's also great for getting old yucky tire dressing off of your tires.

Then just add a wheel brush or mitt. I prefer to use a brush on the tires, and a mitt on the wheels.

I don't know what wheels you have, but most Toyota wheels are Clear Coated, Cast Aluminum alloy.

I've always kept mine really clean so I never needed a special product for them. I just use the same stuff I wash my truck with, but I use a fairly stiff brush. I also have a lug nut brush. It does a good job of cleaning the lug nuts and the area around them.

However, if you have years of dirt and brake dust, you might need something more aggressive than car wash soap. Just make sure you get one that says it's safe for coated wheels. A buddy of mine at work used something too aggressive on his F150 wheels and it stripped the coating off. Now he can't even get them clean.

Once your wheels are clean, I would recommend car wash soap. Just don't use that dirty wash water or sponge/brush on your paint!
