In need of a wax

I did some wheeling today with a good of people and I now have pin stripping all over my black 4runner (I've always tried to avoid it but today I couldn't). It looks like most of the pin stripping affected the clear but there are a few deeper ones that I'm not worried about at the present time.
What's a good wax to help with the pin stripping that has affected my clear coat.
Keep in mind I'm in an apartment complex so I do have access to a buffer of any sort and I'm in the desert. I guess I'm looking just for a good way to help the paint look better.
I also need to read though some of these threads but I'm also looking for advice as wheel (beside's saying don't get pin stripping)

You don't need a wax. You need a polish.

Go to an Autoparts store and get some Meguiars ScratchX. You can apply it by hand. I'd also get a Cleaner Wax to apply after the ScratchX. Cleaner wax has a little polish in it.

Okay, I'll give that a shot. Do you recommend using a clay bar before hand?

Clay bar-ing wouldn't hurt.

It won't hurt, but it won't help you with scratches. Clay bars pull surface contaminants from paint that soap and water don't.

Be careful with Scratch-X...my friend has a black Tundra and although it took the pinstriping out (he did the same thing as you), it left a white haze in the area. Fortunately, we were able to get the haze out with a different polish.

I'm not bashing the product, I would just recommend you do a small area first and verify the results before you do a large area. I hope it works for you!

Black paint is TOUGH.

Edit: I just remembered that my neighbor used Scratch-X on his car and had good results. However, his car is a teal Civic.

I never use ScratchX myself. But for people that refuse to buy a real buffer and polish, ScratchX is an ok option. It's not the best, but it's better than nothing.

Actually i've used it with great success by hand more than once. its a good go to for parts i cant fit my PC or rotary in. Just gotta work it in really good with passion to break down the diminishing abrasives. But I'll stick with M80/83 and my hitachi any day..

If I can't get to an area with the buffer I just use the same polish that's on my buffer pad and buff it by hand.
