The Ultimate Detailing Machine, your thoughts?

What are your thoughts on this machine?

How would it compare to the Porter Cable 7424?

Has anyone used or know somebody who has used it?

TIA

Oh, the UDM. David only sells good stuff. There's a good chance that it's a great buffer.

Guess I'll wait for a comparison before deciding which one to get

I've got it and it isn't bad. David says that the guts are exactly the same as the PC7424 other than the motor. There are a few tweaks that he is having to do with it before I would recomend buying it. The power switch is being modified and I believe he is putting a longer cord on it too. Here are a couple of my reviews on it.

Nice vid. Looks like the UDM could use a few little tweaks.

Is vibration necessarily bad? I guess it just depends how much vibration is sent to the pad. I want lots of pad movement and not so much machine vibration.

How about a side by side polishing test to see where the "rubber meets the road", or where the pad meets the paint?

I didn't find a whole lot of difference when using them side by side. I got no better or worse results using the UDM than I did with the PC. The vibrations really aren't all that bad either. Once you put a backing plate and pad on it, the polisher seems to just float across the paint. It is a great machine that is hopefully as durable as the PC is. My PC is going on its seventh year of use with no signs of stopping. I'm having a hard time giving it up for the UDM with the current shortcomings.
