Shu, what do you recommend for bird crap that's been on the paint and baking in SoCal heat for the last week and a half? My wife refuses to wash the car. Doh!

Ouch! First and foremost pick up some quick detailer and a microfiber towel or two to keep in your truck and/or car. This way, when you see a bird bomb or even some bug splatter, you can remove it right away. You don't want to leave either of those things on your paint. Once you remove it from the paint, check to see if you can see any residual effects. If there's nothing there, you're good to go. If there's some left-over residue or etching, pick-up a clay bar kit (Clay Magic, Meg's Smooth Surface, or Mother's clay kit). Clay will help to remove anything that a quick detailing spray or even a wash didn't remove (ie - bonded contaminants). If you're still seeing any etching after that, use some Meg's ScratchX over the area. Elbow grease is the key ingredient here! Once you work it over the area real good, wipe it off with a MF towel. Multiple applications may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem. Once you have it looking good, throw on your favorite wax to protect the area.
